This is the part most people don't know, and it's the whole reason melts exist. A candle's fragrance load is capped by its wick. Put too much oil in and the flame can't burn it cleanly - so most candles sit at six to eight percent, and that ceiling has nothing to do with how much scent you'd actually like. The trick: start with one cube, not two. At 10% in a small room, one is plenty - and jasmine is a big scent before you even add the load.

In India, jasmine isn't decoration - it is temple offering, wedding garland, and the flowers braided into hair at dusk. This is the flower we built the scent around.

Why We Made It
"Almost every jasmine you can buy has been cleaned up. Real jasmine has indole in it - the same molecule that gives the flower its heavy, almost animal warmth in the evening air, and the reason a mogra garland smells like an occasion rather than a bathroom. It's the difficult part, so most products sand it off, and what's left is a polite white floral that could be any flower at all. We kept the depth. And we put it in a melt rather than a candle because a flame is hard on a flower this delicate - a warmer is gentler, and it lets us pour ten percent instead of eight."

Why Most Wax Melts Disappoint
If your last melts smelled wonderful in the packet and like almost nothing in the warmer, that isn't your warmer's fault. It comes down to four things, and three of them are decided before the wax is even poured.

The load is too low to work
Fragrance oil is the most expensive thing in a melt, so it's the first thing cut. A lot of supermarket melts sit at three to six percent - enough to smell in the packet, not enough to fill a room. Nobody prints the number, which tells you something.

It was never cured
Freshly poured wax hasn't bound to its fragrance yet. Ship it straight away and the oil sits loose in the block - big cold throw in the clamshell, disappointing hot throw in the warmer. Curing costs a producer time, so it's quietly skipped.

The jasmine has been sanded down
Real jasmine is heady and a little animalic. That's harder to sell on a shelf, so most versions replace the depth with something clean and sweet - and end up smelling like laundry rather than like the flower.

One Cube. Really.
Snap off a single cube and put it in the warmer dish. At a 10% load, one is right for a bedroom, bathroom, office, or hallway. Save two cubes for open-plan rooms - two in a small space is the most common way to ruin a good melt.

Electric Beats Tealight
Either works, but an electric warmer holds a steadier, lower temperature - kinder to a floral, and no open flame. If you use a tealight burner, treat it exactly like a candle: never unattended, never near anything that can catch.

Give It Ten Minutes
The cube softens, pools, and starts releasing within a few minutes - far faster than a candle. Switch it on ten minutes before guests arrive and the room is ready by the time they are.

Re-Melt Until It's Spent
Turn the warmer off and the wax sets again - it's ready for next time. Most cubes give two or three good sessions. The wax doesn't disappear; the fragrance does, so judge it by smell, not by looks.

Change It Out Cleanly
When the scent is gone, let the wax set hard and pop it out in one piece - a few minutes in the freezer helps it release. Or warm it slightly and lift it out with a cotton ball. Never pour melted wax down a sink.
